Punarnava is Boerhavia diffusa, a sprawling weed of Indian roadsides and fields. Its name means "renewer" — a reference to the plant appearing to come back to life with the monsoon after drying out completely.
Its traditional use is the kidneys and the liver, and specifically fluid retention. In Ayurvedic terms it is the standard herb where swelling and sluggish elimination are the complaint.
What it is doing in these products
It appears in the liver and kidney formulations and in the uric acid one, in each case as a traditional rather than a novel inclusion.
