Ginger is the fresh rhizome of Zingiber officinale, and like turmeric it needs no introduction. Its pungency comes from the gingerols.

It has one of the better evidence bases of anything in this list, particularly for nausea, where controlled trials have been reasonably consistent. Its traditional use in Ayurveda is digestion — kindling agni, the digestive fire.

What it is doing in these products

It appears in the digestive and detox formulations. Note that Ayurveda treats fresh ginger and dried ginger as different substances, and both appear in this range.
