Preclinical study

Hepatoprotective activity of Sea Buckthorn Livosash Juice

Dose-dependent liver protection.

This is an animal study. Preclinical means the work was done in animals, before any testing in people. The figures below describe what happened in that model — they are not effects a person can expect. What preclinical means →

The headline figure

55–65%

reduction in SGOT and SGPT, the two standard liver enzymes.

The model

Established preclinical liver-injury models in animals. Described as dose-dependent, meaning the effect tracked the amount given — which is a stronger result than a single dose showing an effect.

What was measured

Liver enzymes, the lipid panel, and liver tissue structure.

How to read them

  • SGOT, SGPT and ALP — the enzymes a doctor looks at first on a liver panel. They rise when liver cells are damaged, so a reduction is the direct measure here.
  • HDL doubling — the one increase in the set. HDL is the lipid fraction you want higher, so it is charted as an increase rather than a reduction.
  • Tissue findings — the study also reported reduced fat accumulation and inflammation in liver tissue, improved appetite and healthier body weight — observations rather than numbers.

The study's own conclusion

Significant hepatoprotective activity in preclinical studies, through improved liver biomarkers and healthier lipid metabolism.

What the study does not say

Worth reading alongside the findings. The published artwork does not state:

  • the species and strain used
  • how many animals were in each group
  • the dose given, and for how long
  • which institution ran the work
  • whether it has been published or peer-reviewed

That is ordinary for manufacturer-published research and it is not a reason to dismiss the work. It is a reason to call it what it is: internal preclinical evaluation, not independent clinical evidence.

The published artwork

Biosash publishes this study as two images. Everything above is transcribed from them.
