What the berry contributes
Sea buckthorn appears in cardiovascular research because of its fatty acid profile — it is one of very few fruits carrying omega 3, 6, 7 and 9 together — and because of its flavonoid content. Studies have looked at blood lipid markers, platelet behaviour and markers of oxidative stress.
The results are mixed and most trials are small. This is an area of genuine research interest rather than a settled one, and nobody should treat a juice as a substitute for cardiac medication or monitoring.
What the formulation adds
Cardiosash adds Arjuna bark (Terminalia arjuna), which has one of the longest records in Ayurveda for heart use, along with guggul and pushkarmool. The Arjuna is the substantive addition; the berry is the carrier.
Read this bit. If you take blood thinners, raise sea buckthorn with your doctor before starting. It has been studied for effects on platelet behaviour and the berry carries vitamin K — this is the single most important interaction on the whole site.
The preclinical study
Cardiosash is one of five Biosash products with a published preclinical evaluation behind it. In an animal model of doxorubicin-induced cardiac damage it reported roughly a 26% overall cardioprotective effect across nine measured markers. The findings, and their limits →
