Why this berry and not another

Omega 7 — palmitoleic acid — is a natural component of human sebum. That is the specific, mechanical reason sea buckthorn oil suits skin in a way that most plant oils do not, and it is why this is the best-supported use of the berry rather than the most marketed one.

Taken by mouth, the berry oil capsule is the concentrated form: the fat-soluble fraction with the omega 7, vitamin E and carotenoids, without the water and acid of the juice.

Pulp oil or seed oil

Pulp oil carries the omega 7 and the carotenoids. Seed oil is lighter, higher in omega 3 and 6 and in vitamin E, and low in omega 7. For skin specifically, pulp oil is the one being talked about. A product that just says "sea buckthorn oil" is not telling you which you are buying.

Inside, outside, or both

Many people do both — the capsule daily and a cream or serum on the skin itself. The applied range is on its own page, and the two are not alternatives to each other.
